For the IFTA competition I reconceptualized pieces of my graduate collection around the theme of “Energy”.
Inspired by the first law of thermodynamics that states that energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be converted from one form to another, I up-cycled the prototype of a dress and transformed into 2 tops.
The collection is inspired by the English Elizabethan age. During this era clothing had a significant importance, and even Queen Elizabeth I clothing were up-cycled multiple time in the course of their life. I tried to reinterpret this value and the opulence of the time with a modern twist; with embroideries inspired by Queen Elizabeth I wardrobe, that required weeks of work and are part of the slow fashion movement.
